Last half term we hosted The ‘Spy Academy’, our taster day for all Year 6 pupils from Forest Gate Academy, Partington Central Academy and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Primary School. The day allowed pupils to experience a range of specifically designed sessions relating to English whilst solving puzzles and mysteries. This was also an opportunity for the pupils to experience a flavour of secondary school life where they were able to take part in extracurricular activities during break and lunchtimes. The day culminated in a fabulous presentation to parents of their findings from the day’s events. Here we saw some really confident presentations where pupils commended their peers on their super sleuthing skills and whilst there where some individual winners all pupils should be commended on their outstanding behaviour and enthusiasm throughout the day. We look forward to inviting these pupils back to Broadoak to take part in our many Transition events we have planned in the up and coming year.
Mrs Worswick will be coming into partner primary schools during this half term to answer any questions the children have posted on their post cards to Broadoak Prefects.
The Broadoak Christmas Card competition is well underway and year 4 pupils from all three partner primaries will be competing to design this year’s Broadoak Christmas card. The winner will be announced soon. Good Luck everyone!
Mrs Worswick will be coming into partner primary schools during this half term along with ex-pupils who attended there. They will be giving short presentations about their start to Broadoak and will be bringing some of their classwork to show you!
Transition week will be on week commencing Monday 3rd July. All pupils from the partner primary schools will be invited to spend the week at Broadoak experiencing what it is like to come to secondary school here! We will also be sending out personalised invitations for those pupils who attend primary school that are out of area.
This year summer school will be on week commencing Monday 24th July. Pupils who have selected Broadoak and who will be starting here in September 2017 will be invited for the week long activities which will include deep learning experiences and lots of fun activities to help prepare them both socially and emotionally for the coming new term.
