Salford City, the Class of 92 and Broadoak pupils train together

Key stage 3 pupils were given the unique opportunity of being able to train with the players of Salford City Football Club at Broadoak School. The event began with a set of football drills in conjunction with the youth team and led by Salford City coaches. Both players and pupils enjoyed training with each other on our 3G pitch. Chris Casper (Sporting Director and a former Manchester United player) admired the skills of many of our pupils including those who are already training with premier league teams.
Broadoak pupils were then given the chance to see the first team in action – coached by their manager Graham Alexander (our guest at July’s Celebration Evening). It was insightful for the pupils to see how the professionals develop. A surprise appearance was that of Phillip Neville – the Head Coach of the England women’s national football team and former Manchester United player. He also commented on the high level of ability shown by our pupils.
It was an exciting event and the first of many planned opportunities with Salford City football club.
